Claremont McKenna College was once known as a serious academic institution committed to exploration, discussion, debate, and the pursuit of knowledge. Can anyone honestly argue that Claremont McKenna is a serious or scholarly institution today?
Just this week the feckless Claremont McKenna College administration allowed the suppression of the free and open exchange of ideas in favor of a what resembled a medieval mob of uneducated savages.
This begs the question, is Claremont McKenna College even a college anymore? Going by the Merriam-Webster definition of college as, “an independent institution of higher learning offering a course of general studies leading to a bachelor’s degree” the answer is certainly “no.” For a college requires higher learning, and that is clearly in direct opposition to Claremont McKenna’s current raison d’être
